Nubs nation, we’re back! Young Jedi Adventures season 2 is now streaming on Disney Plus. The first 11 episodes of the new season feature the return of Kai, Lys, and Nubs as they travel the galaxy and find their place in the world as Jedi. Supporting them are their friends Nash, Master Zia, Yoda, and a new character named Wes Vinik. Opposing our younglings are Taborr and his pirate gang, the Ganguls, a new villain named Captain Blackbolt, and possibly, if you look at the timeline, the Nihil.
Season 1 left off at the Starlight Beacon dedication ceremony. At this point, the conflict between the Jedi and the Nihil is underway, which means Young Jedi Adventures could play into that. Meanwhile, while he is the primary villain, Taborr was left at a crossroads in the season finale. We now know his identity, and it’s one of a kid who just needs to be told that he matters. That he doesn’t have to be someone he isn’t.
A lot is on the table for season 2, so let’s get into it. Below is a brief breakdown of each new episode, now available on Disney Plus. Afterward, read on for my thoughts on the first few episodes.

I am five episodes in thus far, and my prevailing thoughts are that it feels so good to be back with this crew. Young Jedi Adventures often hearkens back to the old Saturday morning cartoon feel, even if an episode here and there doesn’t have a big takeaway. It also feels like this season is embracing a more consistent throughline with the Gangul pirate crew being a recurring threat, even if that threat is more on the “Team Rocket” side of weekly nonsense. Early on, this approach is helping the show stay focused on the action and adventure the show does so well.
Wes Vinik is a solid addition to the cast, bringing an Attack of the Clones-Anakin Skywalker vibe to things. He’s not my favorite yet, but it’s been neat seeing his early character growth toward one day being a leader of men (or children, in this case). Captain Blackbolt is also really cool. There’s also a Hutt character that may quickly catapult into that elusive Glup sh*tto status.
Taborr has not been forgotten about, either. His alter-ego, Prince Cyrus, now embraces Kai, Lys, and Nubs as friends. I remain super interested to see this plot develop. The jury is out if Young Jedi Adventures will tie more closely into the High Republic publishing initiative, but there’s still time, and honestly, I’m not sure how necessary it is in the grand scheme of things.
But that’s enough rambling—time to go back into the fray. I desperately need to see what Maz Kanata is up to and what other cameo appearances this season has in store. The first 11 episodes of Young Jedi Adventures season 2 are now available on Disney Plus, with them rolling out on Disney Junior over the coming weeks.
